During February 1 – March 15, the National Institute of Health (Thai-NIH) has an honour to conduct a training course for three delegates from National Center for Laboratory and Epidemiology (NCLE) of Lao PDR, through the support of International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI).
Dr.Busarawan Sriwanthana, the chief of TTP, was the facilitator of this training as her role is the project manager of this IANPHI undergoing project named "Strengthening the regional capacity to detect and respond to emerging diseases in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Thailand".
Representatives included two senior professionals, Dr.Trayhouane Phouthavane and Dr.Noikaseumsy Sithivong, and a staff from Bacteriology of NCLE, Ms.Inthava Silphakongviseth. They were pleased with a full hospitality from TTP staff along with kindness from Thai-NIH.
The course focused on Laboratory Management and Quality Assurance System for those seniors from managerial level; however, identification and isolation of the causative agents of diarrhea were mainly emphasized for those from Bacteriological laboratory.
This project has been accomplishing the second year now. Lao public health institutes and Thai-NIH, with cordial relationship, shall continue collaborating for improvement of laboratory capacity.
